10 Famous Failures That Will Inspire You

Image
Remember how I said failure isn't a bad thing? Well, I was right. I still am. Even though it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that failure isn’t the opposite of success, a lot of you are still skeptical about it so I thought I should show you more proof. Our society is filled with people who struggled for a while, some longer than the others, few of them till death; and then later succeeded in their endeavors. We call this set of people “Famous Failures”. I think what makes them stand out is the fact that they proved that success isn’t how it is normally shown. They showed how much failure is required to succeed. They lived relatable lives and still do; unlike the super-easy-blessed-lucky-talented-rich people, we see everywhere.  We have so many famous failures around us; the likes of Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Isaac Newton, and Thomas Edison. We shall go into 10 famous failures and hopefully become inspired by them. 1. Arianna Huffington I was today year old when I f...

10 Quotes That Will Change Your Mindset

Image
Once in a while, you need to reconsider how you think because your mindset affects everything you do; your choice, decisions, and how you see the world. This isn’t to change how you think or perceive the world, it is to create a better mindset for more greatness. Here are 10 quotes that will make you rethink your decisions. 1. “In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.” – Abraham Maslow Our initial decision would be to step back into safety, but how would we grow. It is the feeling of going through a challenge and coming out strong that makes us fulfilled. We were made to grow, out of the box they made for us, far more than we can imagine. in any given moment, step forward into growth. 2. “Be who you are and say how you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss This is for those who constantly compare themselves to others, who always think about what others will say or think ...

How To Stop Comparing Yourself with Others

Image
We live in a society where we are constantly comparing ourselves or being compared to the other person. Taller than, smarter than, slimmer than, prettier than, richer than; the list goes on. We decide who is better than, and often, it isn’t always in our favour. Still, we go on with this toxic habit, hurting ourselves mentally and financially. Yes, financially. But we can’t blame ourselves, can we? We were taught this when we were little. When we were celebrated for being better than the others and how popular we became because we were prettier than the rest. There has always been this comparison between one another, there always will be; how then can we deal with the never-ending pressure to be like others? 1. Accept Yourself We compare ourselves with others is because we don’t accept ourselves. We want to change how we look, walk, talk and who we are. If we had the chance, we would change our names too; I’m talking about myself here. It is not wrong to want to change our unheal...

5 Steps to Correct Your Limiting Beliefs

Image
In most cases, our biggest obstacles are not far away from us. They are not the people around us or the situation we find ourselves in, neither are they what we lack or have. They are what we think we are, what we think we are not. They are what we believe, and they are limiting. Limiting beliefs are strong opinions and convictions we have and believe to be true that negatively affect us. These limiting beliefs are beliefs we hold strongly that limit us in some way. Limiting beliefs cause a lot of limits in our life and correcting them is not a lot of work, but it requires a lot of time and conscious effort. I have a 5-step recipe to correct your limiting beliefs and you’re about to get a taste of it. Grab a book and pen, let’s get in. 1. Think about your limiting beliefs. This heading should be, “write down your limiting beliefs” . I childishly wanted all the headings to start with a T. It is more effective to think of your limiting beliefs and write them down. This way, you c...

5 Effective Ways to Boost Your Courage

Image
A lot of times, it’s not like we don’t have what we want or worth fighting for, we’re just scared. Scared of uncertainty, failures, embarrassment, and what others will think of us. Most times, we’re just scared to start. It is something I can relate to, I’m a writer, remember? The fear of writing on a blank sheet or screen. It can be scary. Not can, it is. Nevertheless, we shouldn’t let our fears keep us from doing what we want to do. Last week, I did a self-evaluation , mostly for my blog as it is something I take responsibility for. In the evaluation process, I wrote down my strengths, weaknesses, core values, accomplishments, goals, and feedback in my newsletter , and you can read it here and subscribe so you don’t miss more. I became aware of my goals and dreams, and while being aware, I got scared. I guess that is why this blog post came next. I realize I don’t have much courage to do them. Looking at my blog, remembering where it all started, I realized I’ve come far. I was sca...

5 Steps to Self-Evaluation

Image
As we enter the second half of the year , we start to experience different emotions. The joy of seeing a new month, the will of starting a new plan, and the regret of wasting the last 6 months. If you are like me, you’re probably part of the third group, the ones who feel like they have wasted their life, yet again. It easy for you to get tangled in your sadness, but do not fret, I have help. Self-evaluation is the intentional process of reviewing yourself. it is reviewing your activities and performances, and coming to a conclusion of your strengths and weaknesses , and how you have been so far. It can also be called self-assessment. Steps to self-evaluation Self-evaluation may seem biased as you will be the one assessing yourself, and might not be honest but when done correctly, it is one of the best ways to improve on yourself. Follow these steps for an effective self-evaluation practice. 1. Celebrate your wins When starting your self-evaluation, I would advise you to start with the...

5 Benefits of Having a Journal (and Apps to try)

Image
A journal is more than just a record of your day, activities, or experiences. According to Mina Murray, “Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time.” It is the only place you can talk without being interrupted. I added journaling as one of the habits I want to develop this year , and I’ve been doing it for 6 months now, even though I’ve had days of inconsistencies. Even with the days I skipped, I still enjoy a lot of benefits from keeping a journal. Some of these benefits are: 1. It serves as an emotion dump. Life is messy already and you can’t go through it without feeling messed up once in a while. How long will you carry those emotions bottled up in you, squeezing the joy and fun out of your life? You can’t tell anyone about it because of your insecurities or fear of judgment. You wouldn’t even tell a friend because you know you are wrong.  A journal is the best place to dump all those emotions and destructive thoughts.  2. It serves as a gu...
