10 Quotes That Will Change Your Mindset
Once in a while, you need to reconsider how you think because your mindset affects everything you do; your choice, decisions, and how you see the world. This isn’t to change how you think or perceive the world, it is to create a better mindset for more greatness. Here are 10 quotes that will make you rethink your decisions.
1. “In
any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step
back into safety.” – Abraham Maslow
Our initial decision would be to step back into safety, but how
would we grow. It is the feeling of going through a challenge and coming out
strong that makes us fulfilled. We were made to grow, out of the box they made
for us, far more than we can imagine. in any given moment, step forward into
growth.
2. “Be
who you are and say how you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those
who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss
This is for those who constantly compare themselves to
others, who always think about what others will say or think about them. I once
read something that looks like this: “Those who make you cry don’t deserve
your tears, and those who deserve it don’t want to see you cry.” Be who you
are, be true to yourself, the people who matter have no problem with that.
3. “Knowing
how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we can be alone, we
can be with others without using them as a means of escape.” – Bell Hooks
Solitary is the goal. You might disagree with me if you aren’t an introvert. Remember after that break-up, loss of job, or addiction that you were struggling with and you cling to someone, to run to when it hits you hard, that’s when you are doing it. I’m not against sharing your struggles, I strongly encourage it. How you feel when you're alone is what counts.
4. “I want
to be as idle as I can, so that my soul may have time to grow.” – Elizabeth Von Arnim
There is a thick line between being productive and being busy,
don’t cross it. You can be busy without being productive and it is also
possible to be productive without being busy, aim for the second one. I want to
be as idle as I can so that I may have time for growth.
5. “If you want an easy job to seem mighty hard, just keep putting it off.” – Richard Miller
This is me procrastinating on all my tasks till they become
overwhelming. This quote has a lot to say about productivity. Productivity is
doing your tasks when they should be done and as efficiently as possible. It is
not shifting and extending your due date till it's the deadline. It is not
putting it off when it can be done now.
6. “There
are two ways to be rich: One is by acquiring much, and the other is by desiring
little.” – Jackie French Koller
When do you consider yourself rich, when you have much or need
less? How much of much do you need before you consider yourself rich? This is one
of the benefits I enjoy from minimalism: you only acquire what you need and avoid
impulse buying. In the end, you have less need and then desire little.
7. “One
can furnish a room very luxuriously by taking out furniture rather than putting
it in.” – Francis Jourdain
Apart from the fact that this may be referring to minimalism, I believe it means more. If we were to balance this
equation 8=5, we can either add 3 to 5 or take 3 from 8; what are the chances
that you'd pick the second solution? How long will it take before you realize the equation can be balanced by reducing it? We are used to adding things to make our
lives luxurious, but what if you need less?
8. “One
day or day one. You decide.” – Unknown
Will you keep dreaming and making wishes when you can start now.
One day, the lie we tell ourselves. Do you have a goal you want to accomplish or
a dream you want to become reality? Start today, now. Day one.
9. “You
can either experience the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The choice
is yours.” – Unknown
I’d pick the pain of discipline; regret is more painful. I already
regret not doing so many things, I can’t keep increasing the list, you shouldn’t too.
Discipline is refusing initial gratification for something much greater in the
future. It is saying no to the pleasure of now for a better cause.
10. “If
it was easy, everyone would have been doing it, and you wouldn’t have an
opportunity.” – Bob Parsons
You should see this as encouragement.
People who talk about what you are doing and how terrible you are at it are the
same people who wish it can be them in your place. They are the ones who didn’t
stick it up and go through it, they are the ones who gave up on the verge of
their success. What you are doing is difficult, pat your shoulder.

I really love the second quote 😊
ReplyDeleteI love it too. It reminds us that we are free to be true to ourselves and others.
