Perspective: Redefining Experiences

Our lives are not always rosy and appealing, sometimes we are faced with difficult times that try to break us, giving us a heavyweight to carry. Sometimes we go through bad and sad experiences.

These experiences sometimes leave us shattered, broken, and without hope. Nothing good seems to come out of out it. So you think!

Perspective is the choice of a point of view from which to make sense, categorize, measure, and codify experience. It is the way we choose to view our past experiences, limitations, and achievements. It is ultimately the one thing that determines how we view the world and everything around us.

Perspective is derived from the word Perception. Perception is the process by which meaning is made out of one's sensation. It is an unconscious process whereby one takes sensory information from the environment and makes meaning out of it.

It is certain that the perspective we generate for ourselves are uniquely ours and based on experience, values, assumptions, and lots more. It is therefore important that we should make conscious efforts while unconsciously making perceptions.

You throw a die and you got a one, it's the worst. Your perspective tilts to the negative. What if you got a six? You're lucky.

The truth is that we can't see all sides of a die, neither can we see all sides of life. How can you then choose to pick a negative perspective when all you see is one side of the coin.

The sad thing about perspective is that you make a little meaning out of a very large view, the good thing about perspective is that you can change yours if you don't like it. What if it isn't so bad after all? All you see is the tip of an iceberg. So pick up that die and change what you see.

The fiercest battle you will ever fight is the one against yourself.
